Preparation for quitting smoking
Alot of people will say at this point to tell the world that you are going to give up smoking. I have never seen any evidence to back this up and I believe it to be complete rubbish!
Do not pick a "quit date". Do not tell your loved ones, friends or work colleagues. This is about you. You don't need any interference from anyone else. You can continue to smoke during the course of this method. Just give up when you feel the time is right.
Do not start chewing nicoteen gum or engage in any other habitual activity to replace smoking. This is a waste of your money and will make quitting ten times harder.
You are going to relax not put extreme amounts of pressure on yourself!
Try to pick a moment of your day where interruptions are at a minimum and you feel at your least stressed and most serene.
Early morning is usually recommended but if, like me, you are not a morning person, early evening before dinner may be a good alternative.
It is advisable to have washed or showered before. Clean your teeth at the very least.
You may like to take the phone off the hook, disconnect electrical devices, turn the boiler off and ask your co-habitants/loved ones to leave you alone for a while!
A quiet, non-distracting environment is what we are aiming for.
